BIOGRAPHY

Valentina Catto is an Italian illustrator known for her atmospheric, narrative-driven work. Born in Turin, she studied Art at the Università degli Studi di Torino and graduated with a degree in Film Studies. She later lived in New York and London, where she produced artwork for theatre posters, stop-motion animation, and concept art.
In 2017 she returned to Turin and began working as a freelance illustrator. In 2020 she illustrated The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë for The Folio Society, one of her most significant and celebrated collaborations.
Her work, inspired by dark fairy tales, poetry, and fashion, combines digital collage and digital painting to create richly textured imagery. She has been shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards (2018), the AOI Poster Prize for Illustration (2019), and the FIDA Awards (2021). She has illustrated children’s fiction for Rizzoli Education, and her piece Lilith was selected for the Autori di Immagini annual presented at the 2024 Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
